Two of the current exhibits at the Lyndon House include weaving:
Time Warp…and Weft
June 15 – July 29, 2017
South Gallery
This exhibition is of the work of six artists who create woven responses as visual recordings of the passing of time: Janet Austin, Geri Forkner, Janette Meetze, Rebecca Mezoff, Tommye Scanlin, and Kathy Spoering. Three of the artists have an ongoing practice of daily weaving a separate bit on a loom dedicated to the purpose, almost like making an entry into a journal or diary. Another has designed and woven tapestries representing each calendar month of the year. The fifth artist uses discarded papers and other objects in a small daily weavings that become part of larger year-long pieces when assembled together.
Fold Unfold
June 24 – August 19, 2019
Unfolding Event – August 19, 2-4pm
Lukasiewicz Gallery
Organized by anthropologist Susan Falls and fiber artist Jessica Smith, Fold Unfold is a community collaborative project that combines historical research with contemporary fiber craft concepts. Weavers from around the region have been invited to create woven coverlets, which will be assembled into two towers. One tower will be placed in the historic home, with the other in the contemporary gallery space. There will be an unfolding ceremony at the close of the exhibit on August 19.
Per the Lyndon House website, all exhibitions are free and open to the public during regular gallery hours – Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 9:00 p.m., and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
